An Introduction to Elliptic Curves

The theory of elliptic curves is a fascinating study which brings out a beautiful interplay between algebra and geometry and has been finding great importance in various fields in Mathematics. A few decades ago, Andrew Wiles finally conquered the famous Last Theorem of Fermat with the help of elliptic curves. The theory finds applications not only in Mathematics but also in Computer Science, especially cryptography. We will begin with a brief introduction to elliptic curves and we will uncover its algebraic structure.
